Very able students have always been successful at Rush Croft. We have high calibre teaching staff in a structured setting with an open management style. Staff are highly motivated and innovative, thus creating an atmosphere that ensures not only the academic needs but the 'non-classroom' needs of the exceptionally able are met. Teachers' planning reflects children's learning requirements and all teaching staff have responsibility for ensuring that 'Gifted and Talented' children's interests are met effectively.
We promote independent learning and build in opportunities for the more able to research in the library and via the internet.
We run revision seminars and coursework catch-ups prior to the GCSE exams. We have extensive links, through the Sports College, to elite programmes, coaching academies and development programmes for a wide range of sporting activities. We provide access to University 'taster' courses and Gifted and Talented Easter and Summer Schools in a wide range of subjects.
Recent GCSE successes include a number of students who achieved four A* grades as well as four and five As and Bs. Students go on to sixth form courses in Laytmer and Forest Schools, as well as more local provision. They keep in touch and we're immensely proud that so many go on to prestigious universities.
We're even more proud that growing numbers are returning to us as employees!
