We have clearly defined values and expectations and we are committed to sharing these whenever possible. An important source of this sharing is the publishing of a weekly newsletter for parents, carers and friends of the school. This details current news and events and keeps you in touch with future plans. Students are provided with a "planner" each year and you are encouraged to monitor their use of this. We provide a text service alerting you to any special events as well as keeping you up to date with your child's attendance.
Students are assigned to a form group on entry and the form tutors acts as an important point of contact for parents.
In the Autumn term, parents/carers of the new Year 7 are invited to an informal evening to discuss aspects of the school's work, including any particular concerns. Three times a year the school publishes progress grades and in the Summer term, the results of end of year exams. There is an annual parental consultation for dialogue over individual students.
All parents/carers are encouraged to contact the school with any concerns, no matter how trivial they may appear. We have a friendly, welcoming office staff who will do everything they can to accommodate you. We only ask that you make an appointment because most teaching staff have a heavy teaching commitment and are not available at short notice.
GOVERNORS
There are regular opportunities to become a parent governor, and we have a total of ten Governors who are parents.
